Easter Efforts to Emphasize Providing Food for Families

More Green Beans, Fewer Jelly Beans!

With the cost of groceries on the rise, we all feel the pinch. The Good Shepherd Food Bank recently reported nearly 200,000 people in Maine are facing hunger, including 1 in 4 children. Here in our own neighborhood it's a daily challenge for some families to get enough nutritious food. Too many aren't sure where their next meal will come from, or if it will be enough. Food pantries are doing their best to meet the need, but even their shelves are sometimes sparse. As more families turn to Project G.R.A.C.E. for help, we are even more committed to making sure none have to ask the question, to eat or heat?

Our Easter outreach this year will focus on offering practical assistance, with an emphasis on feeding our neighbors. We're inviting volunteers to sign up online to 'adopt-a-family' to provide a holiday meal basket (or gift cards or fruit baskets) this Easter.

Mark your calendars now for the drop off dates: Sunday, March 24th (3-5) and Monday, March 25th (9-11) at St. Maximilian-Kolbe 150 Blackpoint Road, Scarborough.

Together We Made The Holidays Brighter For Our Neighbors - Thank You!

We're Thankful - 90 Scarborough families received Thanksgiving food baskets and still more had a merrier Christmas because of the generosity of our friends and neighbors. Thank you!!

We're now turning our attention to keeping families warm, and with calls for home heating assistance already outpacing those of last season, we're fortunate to be partnering with the Town of Scarborough to encourage support for the Scarborough Fuel Assistance Fund. Read all about it...

Christmas Volunteers/Donors Needed For 2012 Holiday Season

Our holiday gift giving efforts match groups of family, friends and colleagues with local families and individuals to make the holidays a little brighter for all. Wish lists generally include clothing, household items, toys, games and gift certificates. Or host a holiday giving tree, soliciting for specific gifts, gift cards, or items that can help families all year long.

A growing number of Mainers struggle to put food on the table every day. And right here in Scarborough, many families are facing difficult times, especially during the holidays. Thankfully, many hearts and hands ease the burden of others.

With the help of compassionate donors and dedicated volunteers, Project G.R.A.C.E. is active during the holidays and throughout the year, helping neighbors in need. We need and welcome your support!
